Ulrika is one of the first friendly faces you’ll meet in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Tough, kind, and a force to be reckoned with when she’s got a spear, it’s easy to understand why she’s a popular romance option. However, unlocking her storyline requires a bit of know-how, and one very specific quest can completely disappear if you’re not careful!

First Step – Triggering the “Readvent of Calamity” Quest
This is the tricky part, here’s what you need to have done BEFORE completing the “Feast of Deception” quest in Vernworth (where you attend the coronation):
- Brant’s Side Quests: Ideally, you’ve cleared out most things for Commander Brant, like “Monster Culling” and “The Caged Magistrate”.
- Other Vernworth Stuff: Things like the masquerade ball are fine, it’s the actual coronation that sets things in stone.
- “Scaly Invaders” (Partially Done): Visit Harve Village and help fight the Saurians in the cave, but don’t revisit to officially complete the quest just yet. I’ve covered this guide as well in another article. You can check that out if you are having issues finding the cave enterance.
If all these conditions are met, heading back to Melve should trigger the dragon attack and start “Readvent of Calamity“.
Second Step – Trouble in Melve, and Finding Ulrika
This part unfolds over several stages:
- Help fend off the dragon in Melve. Afterwards, Ulrika will run off after a confrontation with some nasty officials.
- Turns out, Ulrika headed west to Harve Village. You’ll need to go there and finish the “Scaly Invaders” quest by rescuing a villager from the cave (Ulrika will help).
- Tell Lennart in Melve that Ulrika is safe. This completes “Readvent of Calamity“.
Third Step/Quest – Home is Where the Hearth Is
This quest is a bit of a pain, but necessary:
- Leave Melve and rest at an inn or camp for a few in-game days.
- Returning to Melve, you’ll need to bribe a guard 5,000 gold to get in!
- Talk to Lennart. He wants to fight back. Buy 4 cheap swords from the shop and give them to him.
- A fight breaks out. Your pawns won’t help much, it’ll be mostly you against a few guards. Just survive, no need to defeat them. Afterward, Lennart asks you to tell Ulrika how things went.
Fourth Step – Trouble on the Cape
Find Ulrika and help her rescue another trapped villager from the cave. The townsfolk will be so grateful, they make her chief!
Fifth Final Step – Sealing the Deal (The Romance Part!)
The hard part is over! Here’s the final
- Rest at Harve’s Inn for a day or two.
- Ulrika will be waiting at night down by the beach. Talk to her, then come back after dark for a lovely cutscene.
The Ulrika romance has a missable quest! While some guides are a bit fuzzy on the details, my experience suggests the quest disappears if you complete “Feast of Deception” (the coronation) before the dragon attack happens in Melve.
Ulrika As A Follower
Once you’ve done all of the above, all you need to do is wait for her to show up at your house. She’ll have a companion quest for you to follow her back to Harve Village. However, if you don’t follow her back to Harve Village, she will continue to follow you and you will gain her as a follower.
Also, if she doesn’t show up at your house and some other NPC shows up at your house. You can simply kill the other NPC and wait for Ulrika to show up at your house.
Final Words
During the dragon fight in Melve, you’ll meet Sigurd. He unlocks this cool polearm class. You can also find Sigurd in Harve Village later if you missed him the first time. Lennart teaches you the “Riotous Fury” technique for the Fighter class after saving Melve for the first time.
