The Boys Season 4 Episode 4 aired a while ago, and things are finally heating up in the show. Homelander is punishing people from his past who tortured him to see his full potential.
Meanwhile, The Boys are figuring out a way to stop the firecracker from exposing Starlight and it actually backfires for The Boys. The main question everyone is asking is, does Billy have powers now?
Key Takeaways
- Homelander takes revenge on the people who experimented on him in the past.
- The Boys’ plan to silence Firecracker backfires, leading to Starlight’s exposure and a violent confrontation.
- The episode’s biggest mystery is whether Billy Butcher gained superpowers
Vought Research Facility and Homelander
The Episode starts with Homelander visiting the Vought research facility where he was a test subject for his entire childhood. He brought a cake to spice things up. However, all he wanted was to make the research facility team suffer.
He first asks Frank to go into the oven where they kept homelander to check his heat resistance. Homelander then dials up on the temperature and eventually Frank burns to death.
Homelander then humiliates Marty and eventually kills him. He then takes Barabara to the dark room and kills everyone there. At the end of the episode, we Homelander all showered in the blood of the research facility members.
Hughie Wants To Save His Dad
The hospital has given up on his Dad but Hughie wants to save his Dad. This episode also proved that his mother is not a hallucination as they both were talking to the doctor who gave this news to Hughie.
Hughie then decides to give his Dad the compound V. He calls A-Train and brings Kimiko as a muscle. Hughie makes a deal with A-Train that this is the final favor he is going to ask him and after this A-Train and Hughie are even.
However, Kimiko messed up with another gang and they came for payback, during the fight Hughie broke his ankle but he survived and actually ended up killing a Japanese gangster.
At the end of the episode, A-Train fulfilled his promise and brought the Compound-V to Hughie. There is a high chance A-Train will die in the upcoming episodes.
Firecracker Exposed Starlight
Firecracker is the new entry to the Seven and is against Starlight because of some childhood drama. Firecracker never moved on and Starlight even apologized to her that she was a kid back then.
Sister Sage planned all of this to expose Starlight and to make her angry so that she would make a move in front of everyone and it went exactly as she planned. While Butcher and MM tried to stop Firecracker by blackmailing her, it didn’t work out.
Firecracker then exposed Starlight’s deepest darkest secrets and it enraged her, so she went there and started beating Firecracker live on TV. This results in the anti-hero bill not passing and singer hanging up on Starlight.
Billy Got Powers Now? Billy vs Ezekiel
Billy gave Frankie the keys to Firecracker’s trailer and he went there to find some dirt on her. However, Ezekiel was there and he overpowered Frankie easily because of his powers.
However, Butcher arrives there on time, freezes Ezekiel’s arm, and breaks it. Ezekiel uses his other arm to get a hold of Butcher.
Butcher then again hallucinates his dead wife Becca, she tells Butcher to not give up and fight and the scene blacks out. After the blackout, we see Butcher standing over the pieces of Ezekiel, confused.
MM asks him what happened but there is not enough time so they rescue Frankie and flee the scene.
The damage that Butcher did to Ezekiel is not possible using human strength. That was definitely the laser attack that split his body.
At the end of the episode, we saw Billy catching Hughie taking Compound V from A-Train. Billy is disappointed in him but Hughie asks him if he was in his dad’s shoes which he is, wouldn’t billy take this chance?
On this, Billy says that he took the Compound V but it didn’t work he didn’t even get powers nor did his tumor go away.
But maybe it did work, it didn’t heal his tumor but he did get powers, not him but his alter ego and he just doesn’t know it yet. We also published a theory of Joe Kessler being Billy Butcher’s Alter Ego.
Final Words
The episode didn’t confirm Billy being a supe but it gives us a hint since there is no way he did that much damage to Ezekiel without powers.
If he actually got superpowers now it is going to make things a lot interesting. Homelander just killed the people who tortured him in his past so it makes him more ruthless now. We will be getting Homelander vs Billy Butcher soon enough.
Overall, I personally loved the episode, things took a huge turn in this episode and finally we are back to whole Homelander being ruthless and killing people. I really hope that Butcher has powers now.
The Boys Season 4 Episode 4 is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Episode 5 is scheduled to release on 27th June 2024.
