Nothing’s more annoying than being ready to take on your friend who has been annoying you by saying he is better than you in FC 24, only to find your controller has gone AWOL. Turns out, this is a frustratingly common problem on Steam. I have found some solutions for this issue as I also faced this issue a while ago.
Before we get into details, let’s make sure we haven’t overlooked the obvious:
- Batteries: Are they fresh if you’re using a wireless controller? Is the cable securely plugged in if you’re going wired?
- Steam’s Input Settings: Steam sometimes tries to be “helpful” with controllers and ends up messing things up. Go into your Steam settings and make sure that Steam Input is disabled specifically for EA FC 24.
Reset Bluetooth
Often, a quick Bluetooth refresh solves a whole bunch of connection issues. Go into your PC’s settings and temporarily disable Bluetooth. Enable Bluetooth again. Power up your controller. It should automatically pair with your PC now that Bluetooth had a little restart.
Xbox Controller Not Working
Xbox controllers sometimes get a little particular when paired with Steam games. In Steam settings, disable Steam Input support for any controller types besides the Xbox controller. Make sure the Xbox controller setting IS enabled in Steam. I use Xbox 360 Controller and this issue was resolved by this method.
Sometimes a good ol’ power cycle (turning your PC fully off and on again) clears out weird little tech glitches. If you’re wired, try a different USB port or cable, just to rule out any faulty hardware.
EA FC 24 has a lot of glitches and issues. But the game is on sale right now so you can compromise on few issues.
Hopefully, these tips helped you get your controller back in action so that you can beat your friend in the online friendly session.
