If you pre-purchased Gold Edition or Ultimate Edition of Space Marines 2, you must have received early access to the game by now.
The standard edition of the game will officially release on 9th September. Just like every other game, Space Marines 2 also has launch issues and one particular issue that is being faced by the players is “Controller Not Working“.
Now I own only an Xbox controller, so I don’t know if this method will work for the PS4 or PS5 controller as well.
How To Fix Space Marines 2 Controller Not Working
Steam has a built-in feature that attempts to map your controller inputs to specific actions within a game.
Disable Steam Controller Mapping
To resolve the controller not working issue within Space Marines 2, access the Steam Overlay by pressing Shift+Tab while in-game. Make sure your controller is connected and detected by Steam.
Locate and select the controller icon within the overlay. Proceed to disable the ‘Steam Controller Mapping‘ option. Once this is complete, close the overlay and restart the game.
This will most likely fix the issue you are facing within the game. However, this is not a guaranteed fix.
Disable Steam Input
In case you don’t have the game opened, right-click on Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines 2 from your library go to the controller section, and disable Steam Input. Also, make sure your controller is connected via USB.
Final Words
In case the above does not work, use Steam’s “Verify Integrity of Game Files” feature to fix the corrupted files that could be causing the conflict between the game and your controller. However, It’s highly unlikely that the issue is because of corrupted files.
Developers will release a patch once they acknowledge this issue.
