Dragon’s Dogma 2 loves to toss you into weird situations. One minute you’re chilling in Vernworth, the next some shady dude named Bermudo is tailing you around the city! This starts the “Arisen’s Shadow” quest, and it leads to a tough choice: cash or catch?
I’ve covered the whole quest in my other article:
Here’s the Deal
After you finally corner Bermudo, he tries to bribe you with a hefty chunk of gold to let him go. Now, gold is seriously tempting in this game, but there’s the whole “he’s a creepy stalker” thing to consider…
Option 1: Take the Gold and Forget
Honestly, I get it. 8,000 gold is nothing to sneeze at, especially early in the game. Plus, who knows what trouble Bermudo might cause if you let him go?
Option 2: Fight for Justice (and Maybe Still Get Gold)
This is the riskier path. Refusing Bermudo’s bribe triggers a fight. He might be sneaky, but you’re the Arisen! Take him down to half health, and Captain Brant shows up to arrest him. After a few days, Brant coughs up some gold and reveals that Bermudo is a spy for Battahl.

What’s the Best Choice?
Here’s the thing: fighting Bermudo gets you the gold and some valuable information that will help you out later in the game. Taking the bribe is a shortcut, but it might lead to complications down the road.
Choosing the “justice route” fits the whole heroic Arisen vibe, which might matter to some players. And let’s be honest, beating up a creepy stalker who’s been giving you the shivers is pretty satisfying.
Final Words
It’s your call! Dragon’s Dogma 2 lets you play the way you want. If you need that gold now, taking Bermudo’s bribe isn’t the worst decision. But if you’re in it for the long haul, fighting him might be the better play.
Did you fight Bermudo or take the easy way out? Any regrets, or would you make the same choice again? Share your experiences in the comments!
