Satisfactory has officially launched its 1.0 version, marking a major milestone for the game! It’s finally time to say goodbye to a very long early access to the game.
The latest patch introduced a lot of new content within the game and huge improvements. However, a lot of players are complaining about an issue while connecting to a server.
Whenever a player tries to join a server, an error shows up “Failed to Connect to the Server API“. This problem affects both private and rented servers.
The 1.0 update seems to have changed how Satisfactory handles server connections.
Check if port 7777 (or 7797 in some cases) is open on both your router and the dedicated server machine for TCP connections.
Fix Satisfactory Failed to Connect to Server API
If this port isn’t properly opened on your router and dedicated server machine, the game won’t be able to establish a connection, leading to the error mentioned above!
Portforwarding
The only solution is port forwarding. Open your web browser and type in your router’s IP address.
You will find this address in your router’s manual book or you can simply search online for your router model. Log in with your router’s username and password.
The location of this section varies depending on your router’s brand and model, but it’s often found under “Advanced Settings” “Firewall” or “NAT/Gaming“.
Create a New Port Forwarding Rule
- Service Name: You can give it a descriptive name like “Satisfactory Server”.
- Port Range: Enter the port number (7777 or 7797).
- Protocol: Select TCP.
- Internal IP Address: Enter the local IP address of your dedicated server machine. (You can find this by typing “ipconfig” in your server’s Command Prompt).
Repeat on Dedicated Server
Now save the new rule and apply the changes to your router’s settings. If your dedicated server is running on a separate machine with its own firewall, you will need to repeat the port forwarding steps there as well. After making changes, restart both your router and the dedicated server machine.
If you’re still having trouble, check your Windows Firewall settings to make sure the game and its server executable are allowed through.
