Once Human is released, a lot of players are facing black screen issue. I got in smoothly though but saw this issue in many forums and on Steam discussions too. These players are unable to get past the black screen.
Run Steam as an Administrator
A user on the Steam discussion forum reported that once they launched the Steam client as administrator and then tried starting the game, they didn’t face the black screen issue.
However, this solution didn’t help everyone. If this didn’t help you either on to the next one then.
Verify Game Files
Right-click on Once Human in your Steam library, go to “Properties,” then click “Local Files,” and finally, hit “Verify integrity of game files…”
Steam will do the rest. Once Steam has validated all the files and repaired the damaged files, try running the game again. Verifying the game files usually fixes the black screen issue.
Check Your Firewall
Your firewall might be blocking Once Human from accessing the internet, causing it to get stuck on the black screen.
Add an exception for the game in your firewall settings to allow it to communicate freely.
Try a VPN (and then disable it!)
Some players have found success by using a VPN to launch the game. Once Once Human has loaded past the black screen, you can safely disable the VPN and continue playing normally.
Don’t forget to disable it and choose the nearest server so you won’t have to face lag and other network issues.
Final Words
Try all of the solutions I have listed above. Most likely your issue will be resolved otherwise you will need to report this bug to developers so they can release a patch. If you are facing some other issue drop that issue in the comments and I will surely look into a workaround for that too!
