Fans of One Piece anime, Netflix has officially greenlit Season 2 of its live-action adaptation. The news is old I know, but incase you didn’t know, now you know. Let’s clear the air right away – Megan Thee Stallion is NOT playing Boa Hancock in the Netflix One Piece series. While her epic Boa Hancock cosplay was amazing, that’s all it was – a fun bit of dress-up inspired by her “snake queen” music persona.
It’s easy to see why fans got excited, though! Megan’s powerful presence, her acting and ahem her looks would be a great fit for Boa Hancock. Sadly, it is just not happening.
Megan’s recent music has heavily featured snake themes, like in her singles “Cobra” and “Hiss”. Snakes often represent transformation and shedding your old self, and that’s been a big part of her recent music, talking openly about personal struggles. It’s a cool artistic choice!
Season 1 was massive for Netflix, and from the sound of it, Season 2 is aiming even higher. They are ready to start filming soon!
Netflix One Piece Season 2 Release Date
The wait might be a little longer this time. Filming starts in June 2024 and wraps up in January 2025. With post-production and effects work, a late 2025 release seems the most likely scenario.
We’ll definitely meet the tough-as-nails Dr. Kureha, and there’s a huge chance of everyone’s favorite reindeer doctor, Chopper, appearing!
One Piece Season 2 is confirmed to show the Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, Drum Island, and Arabasta arcs. If you are a fan of the anime, you must know how great these arcs were especially the Arabasta arc.
Final Thoughts
The excitement for One Piece, both the original manga and the live-action adaptation, is huge! Netflix users are excited to see where Luffy and the Straw Hats go next, especially as they enter the Grand Line. However, the fans that were hoping for Megan to appear in the series are disappointed by the news.
