Trading is a HUGE part of growing your village in Manor Lords. It lets you focus on what your region does well, then trade for the stuff you can’t make at home. But at first, you might see that frustrating “No Trade” message when you try to buy or sell! Yes, you can change the trade rule from no trade to other rules.
Why Can’t I Trade?
Manor Lords wants to make sure you don’t accidentally export all your food a week before winter (trust me, not a good move!). You’ll need to adjust the rules in your Trading Post to get things flowing.
Changing the Rules (It’s Easier Than You Think)
- Locate your Trading Post, that’s where the trade deals happen.
- Inside, you’ll see a list of all your goods with those trade rules next to them.
Find this at the left of each item. Clicking it opens a dropdown menu with these other options:
- Import: You’ll only buy this item.
- Export: You’ll only sell this item.
- Full Trade: You’ll both buy and sell depending on your needs.
Next to each item, you’ll see numbers like “Surplus” and “Desired Surplus”. These are important!
- Surplus: This is how much of a resource you currently have.
- Desired Surplus: This sets your target. For example, if your Desired Surplus for wood is 20, traders will import wood until you have 20 stored.
Manor Lords Trading Tips
Focus on importing stuff you absolutely can’t produce in your region. Exporting extra stone or wood is a great way to make early money.
Can’t grow enough food? Set key crops to “Import”. Got way too much stone? Set it to “Export” and get some extra cash.
Always have some basic resources handy – you never know when you might need them for a new building!
Once you have enough Regional Wealth, trade routes make importing specific things way faster.
Don’t forget the separate Livestock Trading Post! It works the same way, but you’re dealing with horses, sheep, and all those other useful animals.
Final Words
One last thing, assign a horse to your Trading Post! This dramatically speeds up your trades, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good workhorse?
