In Lookism, there are three generations of fighters. Daniel Park, the main character, is part of the second generation also known as the age of crews.
These crews were brought together by Charles Choi, with help from the strongest fighters like Gun Park and Goo Kim.
Now, there is a unique gen called the 1.5 Generation. PTJ, the creator, confirmed this includes Gun and Goo.
They stand between the first and second generations because they have been involved since the early days but still play major roles in the second era.
In this article, I will be guiding you all about the King of Busan and the generations in the Lookismverse.
Who is the King of Busan?
Before Lookism 530, we only knew King of Busan was Gapryong Kim’s disciple and that he avoided fighting James Lee since he was locked up in prison.
King of Busan’s name is Jingrang, and he is known as the strongest man in Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city.
With an army under his control and four crows of Busan, he has got a massive presence in the city’s underworld. PTJ has yet to reveal why Jingrang ended up in jail.
Why was Jingrang in Jail?
I believe he might have been framed for Gapryong Kim’s murder. This makes sense since he was released soon after Eugene framed someone else for the murder to clear James Lee’s name.
Even though Jingrang hasn’t had much time in the spotlight, this new arc will most likely be all about him.
Why does James Lee want to eliminate the King of Busan?
Jingrang was in jail for the past few years while the real murderer (not proven yet) was walking freely, James Lee.
Everyone in Lookismverse pretty much believes James Lee killed Gapryong Kim and he had help from none other than Gap’s own son Kitae Kim.
Now that James knows Jingrang is out, he needs to eliminate the threat before it even takes any action against him.
Another reason could be, that James Lee pretty much ended the Generation of Circles by defeating the circles and the kings (1st generation fighters, I will discuss this later). King of Busan has many reasons to hold grudges against James Lee.
In Lookism Chapter 531, we saw James Lee has partnered up with Kitae Kim to go against Jingrang.
He also sent Daniel Park to Busan to fight with Jingrang by manipulating him into thinking that King of Busan is going to be the next Charles Choi. In Lookism 532, Daniel finds out that there four crews in Busan as well.
How Strong is Jingrang? Is he stronger than Gun Park and Daniel Park?
We still don’t know how strong Jingrang really is since we have not seen him fight yet, but being trained by Gapryong Kim the strongest man in Lookism and leader of the Fist Gang says a lot.
He must know all of Gapryong Kim’s fighting methods. It is safe to assume he is one of the top first-generation fighters.
But is Jingrang stronger than Gun Park? Probably not. Gun is PTJ’s favorite, and with that plot armor plus True Ultra Instinct (True UI), he is on another level.
Gun destroyed the second-gen fighters during the Hunt for Gun Park arc. Even when they teamed up, they couldn’t stop him. Eugene had to call the police just to make Gun surrender.
As for Daniel, he has Ultra Instinct, but Gun’s True UI puts him ahead. Until Daniel and Jingrang fight, it’s hard to say he’s stronger than either of them.
But Daniel was able to fight against James Lee and they seemed equal in strength at that time. So it is safe to assume that Daniel is going to give a hard time to Jignrang if they fight in the upcoming chapter of Lookism.
Now let’s discuss the generations in Lookism.
Generation 0
Generation 0 in Lookism is all about the Fist Gang and the Yamazaki Clan. This was the era when Gapryong Kim and Shingen Yamazaki were the big players.
The Fist Gang and Yamazaki Clan went head-to-head, and the Fist Gang came out on top. After their defeat, Shingen became ‘lethargic’ as mentioned by PTJ in the webtoon, which started a series of bad events like the rebellion from the 3 big families and Shintaro finding out he was supposed to be the leader. He ended up killing his parents and brother Shingen.
Gapryong then aimed for politics, which started conflicts, leading to the formation of the 1st generation. This generation included the following:
Generation 1st
Charles Choi wasn’t the first one to recruit students to do his dirty work. It happened before as well in fact this is how circles were formed.
After Gapryong decided to get into politics, the fist gang started fighting each other and this started internal conflict within the gang.
The fist gang recruited students and called them circles. The leaders of this group ‘circles’ were called ‘kings’. This started the ‘generation of circles’ also known as the ‘generation of war’.
James Lee ended this generation of circles, by defeating the kings. Now that doesn’t mean Kings were weak, if you remember back in Lookism 494, Beolgu Lee was defeated by Taesoo Ma while the Kojima brothers were defeated by Jichang.
Kings defeated the pre-generation fighters in this chapter. In Lookism 495, kings surround James Lee to avenge Seongji Yuk.
But James Lee manages to run away as he took way too much damage from his fight earlier with Seongji Yuk, King of Cheonliang, he was in no condition to take on 5 kings at the same time.
James Lee partnered up with Kitae Kim and Kitae Kim took down the previous king of Seoul, Jichang Kwak who even defeated the Kojima brothers alone.
During this fight, Kitae reveals that ‘the age of crews will begin soon’, he meant the second-generation fighters who are going to follow Charles Choi’s plans.
Kitae Kim offers Jichang Kwak to work for him but he declines the offer, as soon as he tries to kill Jichang Kwak, the police arrive,
James Lee tells him he is the King of Seoul now, but Kitae Kim says he is not interested in the title and is going to Mexico. Later James Lee defeated the kings by fighting them individually. This generation included the following Lookism characters:
Generation 1.5
Generation 1.5 in Lookism was a surprise reveal later in the series. It makes sense, though how could anyone think Gun Park is second-generation?
He was active way before them and even played a big role in forming the crews of second-gen fighters.
Right after getting out of juvie, Gun teamed up with Charles Choi, creating a squad of ten geniuses working for Choi’s company. Goo Kim was also part of this group.
Generation 1.5 includes the strongest fighters from Lookismverse, especially Gun Park. As I mentioned before, he was able to take down second-generation fighters easily, fought against an army alone, and even defeated Daniel Park UI and Goo Kim as well.
Back in Lookism 496, after finding out James Lee had a tough time running away from Kings, Gun Park reveals he would have had no problem dealing with all of them, this shows how strong Gun Park really was. This generation included the following Lookism characters:
They all are supposed to be Generation 1 but since they didn’t participate in the generation of war, they are called Generation 1.5
Generation 2nd
Generation 2nd, also known as Generation of Crews, our protagonist of the series is basically Generation 2nd, along with his J High friends.
After Gun Park met Charles Choi in the prison, he decided to follow him and help him in his plans. Gun Park and Goo Kim formed four major crews in the capital of Korea, Seoul.
Gun Park basically dealt with the crews while Charles Choi managed the whole business. However, Daniel Park was not part of any crew, so James Lee reached out to him to unify the four crews.
Fast forward, most of the crews were destroyed, and Johan was left alone in the God Dog. Big Deal became a wanted gang after they initiated the fight with workers by recovering Sinu Han.
Daniel later creates a new crew called “Allied”, this crew has no leader and the goal was to defeat the workers and Charles Choi.
The Allied eventually teams up with workers to deal with Charles Choi and Gun Park. Eugene was able to unite all four crews with a single goal, to get the red paper and destroy Charles Choi.
This started the Hunt for Gun Park Arc. However, Gun Park still remains undefeated. Charles Choi’s red paper was exposed and he took his own life.
Meanwhile, Gun Park went to prison for Charles Choi’s crimes. This generation included the following Lookism characters:
Final Words
A new arc has recently started, Gun Park’s backstory was revealed in the previous arc called Shiro Oni.
Now, another war seems to be brewing, and this time it is between James Lee and the King of Busan, jingrang.
