Yes, Solo Leveling Ragnarok is canon and is a sequel to the original series. Ragnarok takes place five years after the original series and follows the journey of Sung Jin-Woo’s son, Sung Suho.
Plot
Sung Jin-Woo was an E-rank hunter, the world’s weakest hunter, he started from the bottom and with help from Ashborn he reached the top. However, Sung Suho started from the top, he was super strong from the start. Jin-Woo had to seal them away when Suho was a kid to let him have a normal life. But now, those powers are back, and Suho has to figure out how to be a hero in his own right.
Release Date
Sadly, Ragnarok is only available as a web novel on Tapas Media. There’s no official comic version (yet!), but given how popular the original Solo Leveling webtoon was, it’s probably just a matter of time before Manhwa will also be released.
The web novel of the sequel was released last year on April 10th, 2023, and about 105 chapters were released back then.
Final Thoughts
The question on your mind has been answered, the series is canon and a sequel. If you are expecting an anime adaption of the web novel you will need to wait a lot as currently there are no plans for the adaption. Solo Leveling premiered this year and season 2 of the show will also air this year in the fall of 2024.
