Okay, so in this game, even a piece of fruit can get you into trouble. That’s where the Ripe Quince comes in. It’s a good little healing item, especially when you’re starting and don’t have many potions yet. Plus, there’s this weird dude in Bakbattahl, Isaac the apothecary, who’s obsessed with finding one. Let’s get to it!

What’s the Big Deal with a Ripe Quince?
It gives a decent boost to your health, helpful if you’re low on potions. Isaac wants one for his, uh… questionable research. You can combine Ripened Quince with other fruits to make powerful healing concoctions.
How to Get Your Hands on a Ripe Quince
The easiest way is to just keep an eye out while exploring Battahl. Ripened Quince occasionally spawn on the ground, especially in the desert area northwest of the town. Knackers and Gore Harpies sometimes drop Ripened Quince when defeated. If you’re impatient (or just hate fighting), you can buy Ripened Quince for 100 gold at certain shops. Keep an eye out as you do other errands!
Wait, What’s This About “Ripe”?
Sometimes, you might pick up a regular Quince. Don’t worry – just wait a few in-game days by resting at an inn, and it’ll ripen up nicely.
Should You Help Isaac? (Tricky Part)
Once you have a Ripened Quince, you’ll be able to progress Isaac’s “Short-Sighted Ambition” side quest.
- The “Good” Option: Isaac’s plan is dangerous. If you want to protect his family, get a forgery of his grimoire made. This has a happy ending, plus you get a special item later on.
- The “Bad” Option: Giving Isaac the real grimoire leads to tragedy. This is a much shorter quest path, and may appeal to players who don’t like happy endings.
No matter what path you choose in the quest, keep an eye on the quest board – sometimes the quest itself offers a good hint on where to find those Ripened Quinces!
