Getting your hands on those Black Freakish Manes is key for upgrading some awesome Dragon’s Dogma 2 gear. Sadly, they don’t just grow on trees – you’ll need to track down the fearsome Gorechimera and take it down! Let’s get into where to find them, and how to handle these tough beasts.
Regular chimeras might drop the occasional Black Freakish Mane, but it’s incredibly rare. Don’t waste your time farming them – focus on the Gorechimeras instead.

Gorechimeras Location
These guys are a post-game enemy, meaning you won’t find them until after you’ve finished the main story. Waterfall Cave, this area opens up later in the game, and it’s a good spot for Gorechimera farming. You can check your map to see how to get there.
Be warned: Gorechimeras are like chimeras on steroids! They’ve got way more health than their regular cousins. You’ll need to learn their attack patterns to avoid getting wrecked. Aim to be at least level 21 or 22 before tackling these monsters. A good team of Pawns helps too!
The Black Freakish Mane Grind
It might take a few tries to get the number of Manes you need since they’re not a guaranteed drop. However, since the materials are used in so many powerful upgrades, the hunt is definitely worth the effort.
These fights can get brutal, so stock up on potions! Take a fight or two to observe the Gorechimera’s moves before going all-out. This will help you avoid nasty surprises. Check on the Gorechimera’s weaknesses and strengths, then pick your Pawn team and gear accordingly.
