Queen’s Blood, the card game within Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, can be a blast! It’s got simple rules, but the strategy can get surprisingly deep. Neil, one of your opponents, plays a mean, aggressive game, so it helps to know what to expect. Let’s figure out how we can beat Neil in this minigame easily. Once you beat him you get a Flametrooper card, Card#30. You can find him at The Crow’s Nest. So, I will guide you how you can defeat him the way I defeated him.

What I found About Neil?
Neil isn’t shy about pushing forward to rack up points fast. Here are the main things to watch for:
- He likes cards that boost the attack power of others. Don’t be surprised if a weak card suddenly becomes a major threat!
- Some of his cards affect a larger area than you might first think. Stay sharp, or you might lose control of a row unexpectedly.
- Neil uses cards that protect his side of the board, making it harder to attack.
How I Won Against Neil
The key to Queen’s Blood is where you put your cards, not just which ones you play. Before playing a card, always claim a new square by putting down a pawn. Then, if safe, try to play a card that expands your territory down a row (like the Cactuar).
If Neil also tries to claim a square, don’t panic. Sometimes, just claiming another spot nearby is the smarter play in the long run.
While starting on the side rows is good, eventually you’ll want to battle for the center. Cards like the Security Officer are perfect for this. Moreover, if you are having a hard time defeating, this video helped me defeat Neil by FP Good Game.
My Personal Deck
You can tweak your deck to counter Neil specifically, but here’s some general advice.
2 Security Officers and some cards with good reach and buffs (like Cactuar, and Mandragora) are a solid core.
Don’t forget to buy booster packs! They’re the easiest way to get new cards, and some shops have unique ones. Experiment with different card combinations to find what works best for you! Some must-have cards:
- Mindflayer
- Ogre
- Mandragora
- Security Officer
- Zemzellet

Final Words
Cards with multiple pawns need squares that already have enough pawns on them to be placed. Some cards buff attack power on a square, but don’t put a pawn there themselves. You’ll need another card to actually claim that spot.
