How To Defeat General Elena the Hollow in V Rising

At Ruins of Mortium in V Rising’s latest update, you’ve probably interacted with General Elena the Hollow.

This level 53 V Blood Carrier is guarding a key part of your vampire evolution, the Altar of Stygian Awakening.

But before you can access power-ups, you’ve got to put her on ice. Here’s what I learned from my showdown with the General.

Finding the Frozen Foe

General Elena roams around the Ruins of Mortium, usually hanging out near the Waygate.

You’ll spot her easily enough, but be careful! She’s got a squad of guards with her.

I recommend pulling her away from the group before you engage, or you might end up outnumbered and frozen solid if you are solo.

Elena’s Icy Arsenal

General Elena is a master of frost attacks, and she’ll use everything in her arsenal to put you down.

Rain of Bolts

This is her most common attack. She will shoot her crossbow at you four times in a row.

Ice Explosion

A big, flashy attack that’s fairly easy to dodge if you keep moving.

Pillars of Ice

These pillars rise from the ground and explode after a short delay. Look for the circular warning markers and dodge out of the way.

Ice Block

This is her ultimate move. She raises herself on a pillar of ice and becomes immune to your attacks.

While elevated, she’ll rain down even more arrows and ice pillars. You have to focus on destroying the pillar to bring her back down to earth.

How To Defeat Elena

Elena heals herself if you let her rest, so keep the pressure on! Watch out if you hit her just as she’s about to attack – she’ll release an icy counterattack.

If you see her winding up for a crossbow shot, try faking her out. Move in one direction, then quickly dodge the other way.

Fight her near some rocks. Many of her attacks won’t penetrate them, so use them to your advantage to dodge and heal.

Altar of Stygian Awakening unlocks 18 passive abilities that can seriously boost your vampire powers.

Tier 2 Frost Spell Point gives you access to even more powerful ice spells to freeze your enemies.

To unlock those passives, you’ll need Stygian Shards, which you get by fighting through Rifts in the Ruins of Mortium.
