How To Defeat Finn the Fisherman in V Rising 1.0

I know many of you are trying to get your hands on that fishing rod in V Rising. That means tackling Finn, the Fisherman, a new V Blood boss in the 1.0 update. I’ll share my experience and some tips to help you.

Where is Fin?

Fin has set up camp at the Fishing Lake in the Hallowed Mountains. It’s a bit of a trek over on the eastern side of the map, near Farbane Woods. Once you get there, you’ll spot him on a dock, rod in hand and ready for a fight.

Know What You’re Up Against

He’s a level 32 boss with a few surprises up his sleeve. Fin has 3 basic attacks which you have to avoid. First he will attack you with a fish and then kicks you, this is his basic move which is easily avoidable.

Another ability of his is a Net Trap. He’ll toss a net to immobilize you, making you an easy target.

His 3rd ability is Finn starts swinging his rod like a madman. He’ll spin in a circle, dealing damage.

He can also summon different fishes during the fight, first I had to beat the pufferfish, the only thing I didn’t know back then was, that they explode. Secondly, he summoned a Young Sea Serpent. After I defeated the Young Sea Serpent, Fin summoned Hungry Piranhas.

How I Defeated Finn the Fisherman

Here’s the game plan that finally worked for me.

Stay far away from Finn to avoid his nasty melee attacks. Use a powerful crossbow or long-range spells to pelt him from afar. I found that stacking the Longbow’s focus buff and using its Q ability did some serious damage.

Summoned fishes are annoying in this fight. Focus on taking them out as soon as they appear. Prioritize the pufferfish, as they explode.

If you’re around Finn’s level (32) or higher, you should be able to handle him without too much trouble. If you’re a lower level, be sure to upgrade your gear as much as possible before taking him on.

And that is all you need to know, the key to defeating Fin is using ranged attacks and staying away from pufferfish.
