I live in Pakistan and I don’t see the Ghost of Tsushima PC page anymore on steam. If you’re like me and live in a country where the PlayStation Network (PSN) isn’t officially supported, you might be feeling pretty left out right now.
I was so excited about the Ghost of Tsushima PC release, but instead of enjoying the game, I’m getting an error page and it says “Not Available in Your Region” error. Well, this is due to Sony’s ego. I will explain everything in detail.
The PSN Problem
Sony, the company behind Ghost of Tsushima, has made a controversial decision to require all PC players to link their Steam accounts to a PSN account. Now, this requirement makes some sense for playing the Legends online mode, but even people who only want to play the singleplayer story are getting locked out.
PSN isn’t available in every country where Steam is. This means that if you live in one of the many regions without PSN access, you can’t buy the game, and now after the release, you can’t even open the page.
Helldivers 2 Faced The Same Thing
This whole situation might sound familiar. This happened with the Helldivers 2 community too. After the game was released. Sony tried the same thing, the game was only available for people who were in PSN regions and the PSN account was made mandatory to play the game.
However, the backlash was so huge that Sony had to back off and do a U-turn on the whole situation.
A Major Blow for Players and Sales
Everyone is upset right now who can’t play and were excited to play this game. We are being told that we can’t play a game we were looking forward to simply because of where we live. It’s unfair and frustrating. Plus, it’s not great for Sony either. They’re missing out on potential sales in those regions, and they’re definitely not winning over any new fans.
Some players are trying to work around this by using VPNs or creating PSN accounts in different regions. But be careful! This is against Sony’s terms of service, and you could risk getting your PSN account banned.
Final Thoughts
The only thing you can do right now is let Sony know how you feel. Rant on social media, create a thread on Reddit, we PC Gamers also deserve to play Ghost of Tsushima.
Maybe Sony will come to their senses and find a solution that lets everyone enjoy this amazing game, regardless of where they live.
