Okay, so you’re playing No Rest for the Wicked, and that ‘Of Rats and Raiders‘ quest has you stumped on how to bust Rattigan out of jail. Typical game design, making even helping the “good guys” feel like a puzzle! But hey, no worries, I’ve got your back.

The Less-Than-Helpful Prisoner
First things first, talking to Rattigan is a waste of time. Dude’s got a serious chip on his shoulder, refuses to help until that cage is open. So clearly, we gotta find ourselves a key!
Eavesdropping Pays Off
Head on up that tower next to Rattigan’s cell. Those guards might look intimidating, but honestly, they’re more into gossip than guarding. You’ll overhear them mention a buddy who fell asleep near a fountain…and hey, wouldn’t you know it, the words “fountain” and “key” are conveniently highlighted. That’s a clue if I ever saw one!
Fountain = Sleeping Guard = Jackpot!
Finding the fountain is a bit of a trek:
- Head back down the stairs, away from Rattigan’s cell.
- Take a right, then another right down another set of stairs.
- Keep following that path, stick to the left wall, and boom, fountain!
You’ll spot the snoozing guard right in front of it. Easy pickings! Sneak up, snag that Wagon Cell Key, and hightail it back to Rattigan’s cage.
Unlock that cage, and finally, Rattigan starts talking sense. Turns out Sacrament’s in trouble, and he’s the key (pun intended) to stopping it. He’ll tell you to meet him at the sewer entrance, kicking off the next part of this whole questline. Just a heads up, ‘Of Rats and Raiders’ is a long one.
Final Words
It’s kinda annoying how these games make you jump through hoops for everything, even when you’re trying to do the right thing. But hey, at least freeing Rattigan gets you access to some sweet player housing later on!
