If you are a FIFA or FC fan (nowadays), having a controller is a must for playing a game like FC 25. Even if you’re someone who usually sticks to a mouse and keyboard, using a controller just feels right for this kind of game.
FC 25 Early Access was released yesterday for the Ultimate Edition owners, the game will be released on 29th September for Standard Edition owners.
Unfortunately, many players who bought the ultimate edition, using PlayStation controllers are running into problems with FC 25 on PC.
A lot of players have reported that their DualSense controllers are not working properly in the Steam forum. For example, the buttons are getting reassigned in weird ways, like the face buttons ending up on the directional pad.
In some cases, the controller is not recognized at all. I have faced something similar with both God of War Ragnarok and Space Marines 2. I have no idea why this issue is showing up on the latest Steam games, previous FC games were like plug-and-play.
EA has acknowledged the issue and is working on a fix but in the meantime, there are some things you can try to get your controller working again.
How To Fix EA FC 25 Controller Not Working
First, if you’re in the game, open the Steam Overlay by pressing Shift + Tab. Also, make sure your DualSense controller is connected and recognized.
Select the controller icon in the overlay and turn off the ‘Steam Controller Mapping’ option. Close the overlay and restart the game to see if it helps.
Disable Steam Input
If you’re not in the game, go to your Steam Library and find FC 25. Right-click on the game, go to the Controller settings and disable Steam Input. Make sure your controller is connected through a USB cable, then restart the game.
Disable the EA app overlay
If this does not solve the issue, you might need to disable the EA app overlay, as some players have found this helps.
Open the EA App and click on the three stripes icon in the top left corner to access the menu. Next, go to the “Application” tab. Scroll down until you see the “In-Game Overlay” option, turn it off/disable it. You can also try running the game as an administrator as well.
I hope the workarounds I shared above work for you. However, if it does not, your only choice for now is to wait for the official patch by EA.
