Got a fancy new monitor capable of blazing-fast refresh rates, but feel like EA FC 24 is holding you back? If you’re stuck at 60Hz even though your setup should be at 120, 144, or 165 Hz, there’s a fix! I won’t promise you that this will work for you but it did for me. Even after changing from ingame settings my refresh rate remained 60hz during gameplay. However, after the guide I just put together below, my refresh rate was changed to 144hz.
The refresh rate is how many times a second it can flip to a new image. A higher refresh rate means smoother, more responsive gameplay. Think of it like the difference between a clunky old flipbook and a super-smooth animation – the faster it flips, the more seamless the action looks.
Fix For EA FC 24 Stuck at 60 Hz
Find FCSETUP.INI File
This file is where EA FC 24 stores a bunch of its settings. The location varies depending on how you got the game like you can purchase the game from Steam, Epic, and also from the EA app, for me, it was in the “Documents” folder. Go to FC 24 after opening documents and then open fcsetup folder, there you will find this editable file.
You don’t need fancy software for this. Any basic text editor (like Notepad) will do the job. Find a line line that says something like “RefreshRate = 60”. You can use CTRL+F to find it.
Change the number after the “=” to whatever your monitor’s refresh rate is. So, if you have a 144Hz monitor, change it to “RefreshRate = 144”.
Make sure to save your changes to the file. Now try playing the FC 24. Double-check your monitor settings to make sure the higher refresh rate is enabled there too.
You may also need to check your graphics card settings. Remember, even with the fix, your PC needs to be powerful enough to actually push enough frames per second to make the most of that higher refresh rate.
Final Words
With a few simple tweaks, you should now be fully experiencing the potential of your high-refresh-rate setup with EA FC 24.
