Dragon's Dogma 2 Civil Unrest Guide - Resolve Conflicts in Bakbattahl

Find Us on Socials

Okay, so Bakbattahl is going through some rough times in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Even with the immediate dragon threat gone, people are still bickering and fighting. Menella, bless her heart, wants to evacuate everyone to safety, but with all this infighting, she’s worried it’ll just cause more problems later. That’s where you come in! Remember Civil Unrest is a post-game quest.

Where to Find Menella

Head towards Flamebearer Palace in Bakbattahl. You know, the big fancy place up on the hill? Menella will be on the main road there, probably breaking up an argument as you approach. Talk to her, and she’ll fill you in on the situation.

Three Problems, Three Solutions

Turns out, there are three little flare-ups causing the unrest. Let’s tackle these one by one:

The Angry Dudes – Grant and Abba

You’ll find these guys throwing fists near the Vocations Guild. They seem pretty fired up, but hold on a sec. Talk to them and offer to mediate. Now, they might not be too receptive at first, but just listen for a moment.

Chances are, this whole fight is a misunderstanding, or maybe some old rivalry that’s gotten a little out of hand. Let them vent a bit, but keep an eye on things – you don’t want anyone getting seriously hurt.

After a minute or two, they’ll probably get tired of yelling and realize it’s pointless. You can then help them hash things out calmly, or if they seem ready to cool down on their own, just give them a nod and move on.

If you’re itching for a scrap, go ahead and jump into the fight. They’ll turn on you instead, and might get tired of brawling after that.

The Bazaar Squabble – Glint and Nomos

This one’s happening near the fancy inn. It looks like a human and a Beastren are about to come to blows. Here’s a trick: Instead of getting in the middle of their argument, try talking to the children nearby.

These squabbles often stem from grown-ups forgetting what truly matters. Ask the kids what’s going on, and offer them a bit of food.

This can do wonders for reminding the adults to act a little more civilized. Suddenly, that argument doesn’t seem so important anymore, does it?

The Duel – Scario and Nabrah

Find this one outside the Vocation Guild. Scario is challenging Nabrah’s honor! This one’s actually a formal duel.

They’ll ask you to supervise their duel. This isn’t the time to break things up – these folks seem pretty set on settling their differences this way.

Agree to watch, and make sure the fight stays fair. Thankfully, these warriors are skilled but not reckless, and they’ll end the duel when they’ve proven their point.

Back to Menella (And Rewards!)

Once all three situations are settled, head back to Menella. She’ll be super grateful and tell you to go talk to Empress Nadinia at the palace. Follow the road east into the palace, and don’t worry about those guards – they’ll let you in when you mention Menella sent you. Nadinia will give you a nice chunk of gold and some other goodies for your help.

The Seafloor Shrine Connection

Make sure you’ve completed the “Halls of the First Dawn” questline. That unlocks the Seafloor Shrine, which is where Menella wants to evacuate everyone to. If you haven’t done it, you might have to come back later even after the “Civil Unrest” quest is done.

Final Words

I like how Dragon’s Dogma 2 doesn’t make these solutions about being violent or picking sides. Sometimes the best way to help people is to let them get their anger out safely, or remind them what’s truly important. It feels more realistic that way, doesn’t it?
