Yoru revealed that both Gun Devil and Tank Devil are her children. She called them out and turned them into weapons to use against Black Chainsaw Man.
Tatsuki Fujimoto has made the story really unpredictable at this point. Yoru is jealous of Chainsaw Man because he is more feared by humans. She also wants to save her friends, who were eaten by Chainsaw Man.
At the end of Chainsaw Man 176, we saw Yoru using her new weapons to shoot Chainsaw Man. She was able to save Mouth Devil with her attack and the concept of mouth returned to the world.
What Happened in Chainsaw Man 177?
Chainsaw Man 177 starts with Yoru shooting Black Chainsaw Man. He tries to block the shot but the impact is way too strong even for him, he is sent flying.
Is Yoru Conflicted?
Yoru then explains that Gun Devil and Tank Devil, both were created out of war, as her kind. Asa asks Yoru if she is really fine with using her children as a weapon or if she is conflicted. Yoru says the children are the property of their parents.
Asa is shocked to hear that from Yoru. Meanwhile, Yoru starts firing at Chainsaw Man again but this time he dodges the attack. She claims she has made Chainsaw Man pretty mad then she challenges him to battle with her.
Black Chainsaw Man Got Overpowered
However, Black Chainsaw Man ran away and appeared in front of a blood donation drive. He breaks the blood donation drive board and starts screaming in his own language, most likely he is asking people to donate blood, so he can heal.
Members of NPAA Lost Their Index Finger
Meanwhile, Yoru activated a contract that resulted in members of the National Pistol Association of America’s member losing their index finger.
Approximately 400,000 of the 3.5 Million Members of the National Pistol Association of America lose their index fingers.
The National Pistol Association is actually the Rifle Association of America called NRA. They are a gun rights advocacy group and their primary goal is to promote firearm ownership and protect the Second Amendment right to bear arms.
Most likely, because of their firearm ownership, Gun Devil had some sort of contract with them and she ended up using it to her advantage.
Yoru mimics the New York Statue of Liberty
She is then seen mimicking the New York Statue of Liberty, raising her trigger finger. However, in the next panel, she is then seen lowering her trigger finger and the New York Statue of Liberty has a crack on its face now.
She is most likely preparing for a really strong attack to fire at Black Chainsaw Man, she already overpowered him and this attack will likely deal heavy damage to Black Chainsaw Man.
However, the way she lowers her finger seems to be a sign that she is calling someone. Maybe some part of Gun Devil is in the statue of liberty and that is why it cracked when she lowered her finger.
The Statue of Liberty cracking can be interpreted in many ways. However, the most likely scenario is that something inside the statue is now coming out because of Yoru. We will most likely find out if it is really the part of Gun Devil or something else entirely in Chainsaw Man Chapter 178.
Review
Chainsaw Man 177 delivers another shocking twist, I am still not sure why NPA members lost their index fingers but that is exactly what Fujimoto wants us to do, to come up with theories on what would have happened, and in the next chapter he will reveal what really happened.
Tatsuki Fujimoto continues to impress with his unpredictable storytelling. Overall the chapter was a good read, Yoru who was once called a fraud by some fans ended up overpowering the strongest character in the Chainsaw Man verse.
