Blue Box Episode 9 Quick Recap
Blue Box Episode 9, titled “I Will Be Rooting for You,” starts off with Taiki stressing over his studies.
With finals just a week away, he’s trying to catch up, but it’s tough since he’s been all-in on badminton.
Unfortunately, after losing the prefectural qualifiers, his dreams of making it to nationals seem crushed.
Taiki runs into Hina, who’s also cramming for the English vocab test. They head to the sports room together, where Chinatsu Senpai is still hard at work with her team. Nationals are just two months away.
Taiki tries to act like he’s over the loss in the prefectural qualifiers, but deep down, he’s still struggling with it.
Hina notices this, and Kyo Kasahara reassures her that Taiki will eventually get past it.
Goal Setting at Practice
Now that the tournament is over, the coach asks everyone to write their goals and stick them on the wall.
While most players wrote about reaching nationals, Taiki, who was obsessed with making it to nationals, wrote he wanted to improve his smash precision instead. Chinatsu saw what he wrote on that paper.
Taiki starts preparing for the exams along with his badminton practice, there is a huge change in his personality.
Taiki Pushes Himself Too Hard
Taiki’s been pushing himself too hard with both his studies and badminton, and it’s starting to take a toll.
After skipping out on dinner with the team because he is feeling unwell, he heads home and finds out he has a high fever.
He starts thinking about his past mistakes, especially the shot that could have gotten him into nationals.
Chinatsu Takes Care of Taiki
Taiki wakes up to find Chinatsu by his side. She notices his fever, but when he worries about passing on his illness, she doesn’t care.
Chinatsu makes Taiki some hot noodles and gives him medicine to help with his fever. They chat about why Taiki didn’t set getting into nationals as his goal.
A Close Moment Ends the Episode
When Chinatsu tries to clean up the dishes, Taiki insists on doing it himself, but as soon as he tries to stand, he loses balance.
Chinatsu catches him to stop him from falling, and they end up in a very close position on the bed, with Chinatsu on top of Taiki. The episode ends!
Warning spoilers ahead:
What To Expect From Blue Box Episode 10
Blue Box Episode 10 will adapt the manga chapters 27-29. According to those chapters, Taiki recovers from his fever and wakes up feeling better, but he can’t shake off how close Chinatsu was to him the night before.
He heads to practice but finds the gym occupied by the GYM club. Haryu invites him to help clean the pool while they wait, but Taiki declines, saying he wants to focus on strength training.
However, once he spots Chinatsu there, he quickly agrees to help with the pool cleaning, clearly not able to resist being near her.
In the upcoming episode of Blue Box, things get pretty awkward between Taiki and Chinatsu.
During the BBQ feast at Taiki’s home, Chinatsu admits she has been struggling to adjust to living with a guy and has been careless.
She reassures Taiki that what happened last night won’t happen again. But what she doesn’t know is, that Taiki’s weird behavior isn’t because of that it’s for a whole different reason.
